BRETT ELLIOTT FRANKLIN

Brett Franklin is an honest, proven leader and consensus builder
who believes in the power of education to transform lives. As a
two-term City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem, Brett oversaw a
balanced city budget in each of 8 years. He’s also been a strong
supporter of the museums, arts and culture movement and helped
spearhead the Reading City literacy program, which is now a model
Brett knows education is key to good jobs and a strong economy,
and will work hard to encourage partnerships between community
colleges, universities, local government and the private sector in
ways that will empower every student to achieve their dreams and
Brett is committed to Orange County’s future. He grew up here, the
son of a Marine Corps jet pilot and a Registered Nurse. He graduated
from Santa Ana High School and returned to Rancho Santiago’s
Area 5 after college to run a successful small business for 30 years.
Brett is raising two children with his wife Rossette, who has worked
as a teacher’s aide for disabled children in the SAUSD.

Create internships and retraining programs, especially in high-tech,
biotech and health services.
